Dr. Marie-Claude Theoret, DVM, DACVS

Dr. Theoret is passionate about veterinary medicine. She obtained her doctorate of veterinary medicine at the University of Montreal in 2000. After her training, Dr. Theoret realized a long lasting dream of working internationally as a veterinarian. She went to work at the Orangutan Center in Borneo, working with orphaned orangutans, and also worked as a veterinarian in Haiti.

She then completed a general internship in small animal at a referral hospital, Rowley Memorial Animal Hospital in Massachusetts, followed by a surgical internship at the Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialist in Texas, and a surgical residency at the University of Wisconsin and a large referral private hospital near Montreal. After these five years of advanced training while practicing, Dr. Theoret successfully passed the American College of Veterinary Surgeons examination in 2007. Since then she has practiced in the Ottawa region as well as taught at the University of Montreal.

After all these years of advanced training, Dr. Theoret realized how much she missed and loved building strong, long term relationships with her clients and patients, and being able to see her patients grow. She then decided to practice general medicine again by offering excellent care to her patients, using the expertise acquired during those additional five years of training in addition to her doctorate of veterinary medicine.

She has always wanted to open her own practice, which she did in 2011 at Centrepointe Animal Hospital, in order to better help people who value their relationships with their pets the same way she values the relationship she has with her own dog, Picchu.
