1- Spend time every day handling your pet’s muzzle for a few seconds:

2- Gently lift the lip to expose the teeth:

3- End each session on a positive note.
4- Then, for a week or two, apply some pet designed toothpaste on your finger and rub it on the teeth, starting with the upper canine teeth:

5- Work backwards, using a circular motion, including the gums and teeth.
6- Repeat the motion on the other side then on the lower jaw:

7- Finish with the front teeth, using an up and down motion:

8- Next, start brushing, using a toothbrush designed for pets. Using the finger toothbrush might help in the beginning.

9- Wet the bristles and press the toothpaste into the bristles. Start with the upper canine teeth, using a gentle circular motion:

10- Work back, using a circular motion, including the gums and teeth:

11- Repeat on the other side then on the lower jaw:

12- Finish with the front teeth, using an up and down motion:

13- Continue by brushing the inside of the teeth, starting with the upper jaw, then the lower jaw:

14- Gradually increase the amount of time and pressure applied, but never more than what you would for your own teeth:

15- Ideally, the tooth brushing should be done daily. Remember to always end on a positive note!
